The Mutants are a group of physically altered former Time Lords—former colleagues of Mawdryn—now existing in states of prolonged agony. Their bodies remain trapped in the final moments of failed regeneration, their minds eroded by cycles of mutation. They move as a single bonded unit, their suffering and collective experience forming an unbearable shared existence. Their presence serves as both witness and accusation against the Time Lords' institutional failures. Members of this group include a mutated scientist whose voice carries the weight of centuries of futile research, stripped of formal rank but wielding moral authority as a spokesperson for the collective's suffering. Though capable of aggression, the mutants refrain from violence when no immediate threat is perceived, as evidenced during the transmat capsule incident during their encounter with the Doctor, Mawdryn, Turlough, Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, and companions Nyssa and Tegan Jovanka during the events of 'Mawdryn Undead Part 4'.
