He brandishes a sawn-off shotgun to assert control over the Doctor and Sarah in a jeweler’s shop, revealing his territorial paranoia. His actions are erratic—he flees at the slightest provocation, leaving his stolen loot behind. Phillips becomes one of the earliest casualties of the invisible force terrorizing London, his death marking the first stark evidence of an unstoppable, unknown threat. His motivation appears purely survivalist, devoid of deeper malice beyond the immediate need to secure resources. Notably, he is also referred to as 'Unidentified Driver' in some accounts, though this does not constitute a distinct identity.
