Clad in ritual garb alongside other masked participants, he operates with mechanical precision, lifting and blowing the massive horn at the appointed moment. His role centers on enforcing ancient law through sound and symbolism, ensuring the prisoner’s final moments are framed by the law’s dread authority. The ritual’s weight rests on his shoulders as much as the victim’s.
