The Rescue
Captured by the menacing Daleks, the Doctor and his companions must use their wits to escape and prevent the Daleks from unleashing a deadly radiation, while the Thals mount a desperate attack to reclaim their world.
Following their capture, The Doctor and Susan find themselves prisoners of the Daleks, who are on the brink of executing a plan to irradiate the planet and secure their dominance. Simultaneously, Ian, Barbara, and the Thals, led by Alydon, struggle to find a way into the Dalek city to rescue them and thwart the Daleks' evil scheme. As Ian, Barbara, Kristas and Ganatus search for an alternate route, Antodus sacrifices himself. Later, the group find their way through a tunnel and under some pipes into the city.
Inside the control room, the Daleks prepare to unleash radiation from a distribution capsule. The Doctor, in a desperate attempt to buy time, tells the Daleks about his TARDIS, a ship capable of traversing space and time, hoping they will be more interested in his technology than killing him. He offers to show them the ship in exchange for stopping the radiation process.
Meanwhile, the Thals, who believe the Doctor is out of action, decide to seize the moment and attack the city. Their entry is detected, causing alarm and igniting conflict. Ian, Barbara, Ganatus, and Kristas navigate the labyrinthine corridors of the city, encountering Dalek patrols and facing deadly traps. Communication barriers and a lack of direction hamper the Thals' progress, prompting a desperate search for the control room. As the Daleks begin the final countdown to irradiate the atmosphere, alliances are tested and sacrifices are made.
In a climactic confrontation, the Thals and the Doctor's companions converge on the control room, engaging the Daleks in a fierce battle. Barbara manages to free herself from a closing door, then she throws a rock at a Dalek, creating a diversion while Ian and Alydon free the Doctor and Susan. With the help of the Thals, they manage to sabotage the Dalek technology, just as the countdown reaches a critical point. The Doctor and his companions succeed in stopping the radiation dispersal, effectively ending the Dalek's plan.
In the aftermath, the Daleks are defeated, and the Thals, having witnessed the end of a war caused by hatred and division, begin the long process of rebuilding their society under Alydon's leadership. The Doctor, after refusing to stay and help, speaks of truth, found in the stars. He gives Alydon final advice and suggests that one day the plants will grow and birds will sing again. The Doctor and his companions prepare to depart in the TARDIS, leaving behind a glimmer of hope for the future of the planet while moving on to their next adventure across space and time. They bid farewell to the Thals, with unspoken connections and the weight of experiences between them. Finally, the TARDIS dematerialises.
