The Claws of Axos Part 2
When a parasitic alien ship lands on Earth offering a miracle substance, the Doctor, along with UNIT, must uncover the aliens' sinister plan to drain the planet's resources, with the fate of humanity hanging in the balance.
A golden, parasitic alien ship, Axos, lands in England, offering a revolutionary substance called Axonite to the world through Sir George, a representative of Axos. Simultaneously, the Doctor, along with Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and Jo Grant from UNIT, investigate the mysterious arrival. The initial offer turns out to be a sinister plot to exploit Earth's resources. Mr. Chinn, a government official, becomes entangled with the Axons, blinded by the promise of exclusive rights to Axonite for Britain. The Doctor quickly suspects foul play, recognizing the Axons' motives are far from benevolent.
As the story unfolds, the Master, another Time Lord, is revealed to be in league with the Axons, having led them to Earth in exchange for his freedom and Tardis. However, the Axons betray him, recognizing his manipulative nature and the threat he poses, seeing as this the Doctor is also a Time Lord. The Master seeks to regain control of the situation and his property, maneuvering to exploit the chaos for his own ends.
Meanwhile, UNIT becomes increasingly suspicious of Chinn's activities and his alignment with the Axons. Chinn, blinded by ambition and promises of power, uses the Emergency Powers Act to arrest the Brigadier and seize control, furthering the Axons' agenda. However, Captain Harker is conflicted about his orders, but ultimately chooses to follow them. The Doctor, along with Jo, finds himself caught in the middle, trying to expose the Axons' true intentions and counter Chinn's actions.
Bill Filer, a UNIT operative, becomes central to the plot when he encounters the Axons and is duplicated using Axonite. The Doctor and UNIT must discern the real Filer from the replicated one, adding another layer of complexity to the crisis. As the Doctor delves deeper into the mystery of Axonite, he conducts experiments in the Nuton Complex's laboratory, attempting to understand its properties and counteract its effects. He eventually places Axonite in the light accelerator. The experiment triggers the Axons to prematurely activate their nutrition cycle and orders an immediate recovery.
In a climactic turn, the Doctor works to sabotage the Axons' plans, using his knowledge of time and technology to disrupt their control. A stand-off ensues as UNIT confronts Chinn and the Axons, leading to a confrontation. The Brigadier manages to escape UNIT HQ and works with the Doctor and Jo to try to save Earth. The resolution sees the Axons defeated or driven off, their plans thwarted by the combined efforts of the Doctor, UNIT, and the Master's double-crossing. The immediate threat is neutralized, but the lingering effects of Axonite and the Master's continued presence leave the door open for future conflicts.

The narrative beats that drive the story
This act details the escalating conflict surrounding Axos and Axonite, focusing on Chinn's consolidation of power, the Master's strategic maneuvers, and the Doctor's scientific counter-efforts. Chinn, granted special powers by the Minister, systematically neutralizes UNIT opposition, arresting the Brigadier and his team under the Emergency Powers Act to ensure Britain's exclusive control over Axonite. Simultaneously, the Master, initially imprisoned by the Axons, orchestrates an escape with Bill Filer by damaging Axos's nerve sector, only to be recaptured. The Axons betray the Master upon discovering the Doctor is also a Time Lord, releasing him but retaining his TARDIS. The Master then escapes Axos, killing a soldier, and immediately begins to sow chaos by taking control of UNIT personnel to send a message to the UN. Meanwhile, the Doctor, confined to the Nuton Complex laboratory, investigates Axonite's properties. He encounters a replicated Bill Filer, exposing Axonite's insidious ability to duplicate life. After a confrontation, the replica is destroyed in the light accelerator. The Doctor, now fully aware of Axonite's true nature, uses Winser's equipment to force the Axonite to analyze itself, triggering a premature activation of the Axons' nutrition cycle and an emergency within their ship. This critical action coincides with the Brigadier's escape from confinement, setting the stage for a direct confrontation.
