Meanwhile, the Cailleach performs a blood ritual, commanding the 'Ogri' to do her bidding, confirming the creature's identity and its master. The Doctor and Emilia discover a hidden priest hole in De Vries's manor, revealing portraits of historical female landowners, all depicting the same dark-haired woman. The dramatic revelation that this woman is Vivien Fay, their seemingly benign associate, exposes a deep-seated conspiracy and establishes her as a central, malevolent force. The act concludes as Vivien approaches Romana at the now glowing stone circle, her sinister intentions now apparent, placing Romana in immediate peril.
