Shada Part 6

The Doctor and his companions must stop Skagra's mind-controlling entity from taking over the universe, while navigating time and space complexities.

The Doctor, Romana, Clare, and K9 escape from Skagra's minions and devise a plan to stop Skagra's mind-controlling entity. The Doctor uses Chronotis's Tardis to create a link with his own Tardis, which is under Skagra's control, and then makes a perilous crossing through the time-space vortex to reach his own Tardis. He outwits Skagra by using a device that connects his mind to the collective minds controlled by Skagra, turning the tables on Skagra. Meanwhile, Romana and Clare work together to disable the Krargs and free the prisoners. Ultimately, Skagra is thwarted, and the Doctor returns the prisoners to their original timeline. The story concludes with the Doctor, Romana, and K9 departing in the Tardis, while Chronotis remains behind, maintaining his secret.

Act 1

The Doctor, Romana, Clare, and K9 narrowly escape Skagra's Krarg minions, retreating to Professor Chronotis's rooms. The Doctor quickly deduces Skagra's amplified mental capabilities, now drawing power from the collective minds of the universe's greatest intellects, including Salyavin's and his own. Recognizing the immense danger posed by this "Think Tank," the Doctor devises a desperate plan: he will use Chronotis's TARDIS to create a temporal link with his own, which Skagra controls, and then cross the time-space vortex. Romana and Clare are tasked with maintaining this fragile, volatile link while the Doctor attempts the perilous journey. The crossing proves incredibly difficult; Romana and Clare struggle to hold the connection as the Doctor navigates the chaotic, fading green light of the vortex. Despite their desperate efforts, the link collapses, the console explodes, and the Doctor is lost, presumed consumed by the vortex. Romana, bandaging Clare's burnt hand, resolves to proceed with the mission, facing the unknown future without the Doctor, with K9 as their sole functional ally. This act establishes the overwhelming threat, the high stakes, and the immediate, seemingly catastrophic, failure of the Doctor's audacious gambit, forcing his companions into a position of independent, urgent action.

Act 2

Against all odds, the Doctor survives his perilous journey through the vortex, materializing in a workshop where he quickly improvises a mind-amplifying helmet from scavenged parts. He infiltrates his own TARDIS, now under Skagra's control, and observes Skagra on the command ship, preparing to unleash his mind-controlling entity upon the universe. The Doctor confronts Skagra directly, using K9 as a strategic diversion before revealing himself. He dons his improvised helmet, connecting his mind to the collective "Think Tank" that Skagra wields. This unexpected move initiates a mental tug-of-war; the Doctor's presence within the collective mind causes confusion among the controlled prisoners, turning their focus against Skagra. As Krargs attack, K9 provides vital laser defense. Romana and Clare, having repaired their TARDIS, arrive and strategically disable the remaining Krargs by electrocuting them with live wires, further disrupting Skagra's forces. Overwhelmed and outmaneuvered by the Doctor's ingenuity and his companions' timely intervention, Skagra is forced to retreat in his cube, vanishing from the scene. With Skagra's immediate threat neutralized, the Doctor confirms he can reverse the mind-control, restoring the prisoners' individual intellects, and plans their return to Shada, reflecting on Chronotis's true identity as Salyavin.

Act 3

In the aftermath of his defeat, Skagra finds himself ironically imprisoned within his own command ship. The ship, thanks to the Doctor's previous modifications, now refuses Skagra's orders and instead expresses admiration for the Doctor, leaving Skagra in despair. Back on Earth, the local authorities, represented by Wilkin and a bewildered Constable, investigate the mysterious "stolen room" at St. Cedd's College. They arrive at Chronotis's rooms to find everything seemingly normal, with Chronotis, the Doctor, Romana, Clare, and Parsons enjoying tea, the Doctor reading from a book. The Constable, however, spots the Doctor's TARDIS, leading to a brief, humorous exchange about its presence. The Doctor and Romana, with K9, make their final goodbyes, preserving Chronotis's secret identity and the extraordinary events from the mundane world. As the TARDIS dematerializes, Chronotis deflects the Constable's inquiries, leaving the officer utterly perplexed. Inside the TARDIS, the Doctor and Romana discuss the origins of Skagra and the true identity of Salyavin, with the Doctor reflecting on the nature of legends and his own future legacy, breaking the fourth wall and bringing the adventure to a reflective and conclusive end.
