Act 1

The narrative opens with the Doctor, Tegan, and a group of soldiers battling a Dalek in a London warehouse. They manage to destroy the Dalek, but Tegan is injured, and the soldiers are left bewildered by the sudden appearance of the aliens via a Time Corridor. On the Dalek Battle Cruiser, the Dalek Supreme, Black, acknowledges the Doctor's interference and seals the Time Corridor, indicating a strategic awareness of their adversary. Simultaneously, two human survivors, Styles and Mercer, are introduced on a space station, contemplating its self-destruct system as their only recourse against the Daleks. Meanwhile, Turlough, separated from the Doctor, navigates the Dalek Battle Cruiser, discovering gruesome evidence of the Daleks' gas attacks. The scene shifts to Davros, the Dalek creator, reawakening from cryogenic sleep, immediately asserting his authority to Lytton and beginning to learn of the Daleks' past defeats, particularly against the Movellans. The Doctor, back at the warehouse, investigates mysterious cylinders, suspecting a deeper Dalek plot. This act establishes the immediate danger on Earth, introduces the broader conflict across space, and sets Davros's vengeful intentions in motion, laying the groundwork for the Doctor's desperate efforts to understand and counter the multifaceted Dalek threat.

Act 2

Following Davros's reawakening and his demand for a laboratory, the narrative intensifies the threats across all fronts. The Doctor, still at the warehouse, discovers the Kaled mutant from the destroyed Dalek casing is still alive and dangerous, leading to a tense confrontation where he and Calder subdue it. This incident reinforces the cunning and resilience of the Dalek threat, even in defeat. The Doctor, realizing the urgency, decides he must return to the TARDIS to locate the Dalek ship and find Turlough, despite the soldiers' objections. Stien, initially reluctant, is persuaded to accompany him. Concurrently, on the space station, Mercer and Styles encounter and eliminate a group of Dalek-like Troopers, highlighting the pervasive nature of the Dalek's influence and the danger of their human pawns. Turlough, having made his way to the Space Prison, is captured by Mercer and Styles, who suspect him of being with the Daleks, adding another layer of peril for the Doctor's companion. The situation on Earth drastically deteriorates when the Daleks reactivate the Time Corridor, re-entering the warehouse. They swiftly overwhelm and convert Colonel Archer and other soldiers into blank-faced operatives, effectively establishing martial law and trapping Tegan and Laird. Davros, meanwhile, uses a mind-control device on his engineer, Kiston, ensuring absolute obedience as he prepares to begin his research, further solidifying his power. This act sees the Daleks consolidating their control on Earth and Davros asserting his dominance, while the Doctor and his companions face increasing isolation and direct threats.

Act 3

The narrative accelerates towards a critical confrontation as the Doctor and Stien successfully locate the Dalek ship from within the TARDIS. Their journey, however, takes an unexpected and perilous turn when the TARDIS is caught in the Time Corridor, directly drawing them into the Daleks' domain. This event serves as a major cliffhanger, placing the Doctor in immediate danger and setting the stage for a direct confrontation with the Daleks and potentially Davros. On the Dalek Battle Cruiser, Black, the Dalek Supreme, recognizing the TARDIS's capture, orders the "duplication room" prepared, hinting at a sinister plan for the Doctor. This suggests the Daleks intend to exploit the Doctor's presence, rather than simply destroy him, raising the stakes considerably. Back on Earth, Tegan and Laird remain trapped in the warehouse, now under the martial law enforced by the converted Colonel Archer and his blank-faced soldiers. Tegan's growing suspicion of Archer's altered behavior underscores the pervasive and insidious nature of the Dalek's control. Davros, having secured Kiston's loyalty through mind control, continues to demand resources for his laboratory, preparing to embark on his genetic re-engineering of the Daleks. This act culminates with the Doctor's direct entanglement with the Dalek fleet, the growing threat of Davros's resurgence, and the grim situation on Earth, leaving the audience with a sense of impending doom and the immediate danger to the protagonist. The multiple plot threads converge, signaling a major turning point in the overall conflict.
