The narrative beats that drive the story
The Doctor and his allies, Mykros, Vena, Katz, and Sezon, initiate their plan by sealing the Inner Sanctum, creating a temporary refuge from Borad's forces. The Doctor, recognizing the critical need for Kontron crystals to counter Borad's power, makes the perilous decision to enter the Timelash himself. He abseils into the swirling vortex, a dangerous maneuver that strains his companions' efforts to hold his lifeline. Inside, he navigates the treacherous environment, struggling against the vortex's forces to retrieve the necessary crystals. Meanwhile, Peri, captured by Borad's guards, endures harsh treatment as she is dragged through the tunnels and brought to Borad's vault. Borad, communicating through an android, reveals his intent to capture the Doctor and the rebels, but specifically orders Peri to be kept alive, hinting at a sinister purpose. The Doctor faces a near-fatal slip within the Timelash, requiring Herbert and Mykros to risk their own safety to pull him back. Despite the close call, the Doctor successfully retrieves the crystals, bringing a glimmer of hope to the besieged rebels. This act establishes the immediate threat, the Doctor's daring plan, and the ominous fate awaiting Peri, setting the stage for the escalating conflict.

With the Kontron crystals secured, the Doctor immediately begins constructing a device to counter Borad's power. Outside, Tekker, seeking to advance his own position, ruthlessly betrays Kendron to Borad. This act reveals Borad's true, grotesque form—a half-human, half-Morlox mutation—and his identity as Megelen, a scientist the Doctor previously reported for unethical experimentation. Borad chillingly unveils his plan to transform Peri into his mate using Mustakozene Eighty, a chemical that caused his own mutation. The Inner Sanctum's defenses are breached by Borad's forces, leading to a fierce skirmish where Sezon is wounded and other guards are killed. The Doctor activates his newly fashioned time-loop device, which absorbs and reflects energy, effectively incinerating the android and other attackers, demonstrating its potent capabilities. Simultaneously, the threat of the Bandril invasion looms larger, with their ships nearing Karfel. Recognizing the dual threat, the Doctor decides to confront Borad directly, leaving his companions to deal with the Bandrils. Herbert, despite being told to stay, secretly follows the Doctor. In Borad's vault, the Doctor confronts his old acquaintance, Megelen, now Borad, who further demonstrates his ruthlessness by killing Tekker. The Doctor then uses his time-slip device to evade Borad's death ray and cleverly reflects the beam back, seemingly destroying Borad. Herbert is dispatched to rescue Peri, as the Doctor prepares to address the incoming Bandril missile.

Following Borad's apparent demise, Herbert successfully rescues Peri from the Morlox in the cavern. They return to the Inner Sanctum, where the Doctor attempts to avert the imminent Bandril missile strike. He contacts the Bandril Ambassador, revealing his Time Lord identity and the overthrow of Karfel's dictator, urging them to call off the attack. The Bandrils, however, demand proof of Borad's death, which the Doctor cannot immediately provide. With the missile too close, the Doctor makes a drastic decision: he will use the TARDIS as a deflector shield to destroy the missile. He attempts to send Peri back to safety, but she insists on staying. Herbert, too, secretly stows away in the TARDIS. The Doctor and Herbert then pilot the TARDIS directly into the missile's path, sacrificing themselves in a spectacular explosion that saves Karfel. The Bandrils acknowledge the Doctor's heroic, selfless act and offer a diplomatic party, believing him and the TARDIS destroyed. Peri mourns the Doctor's loss, but her grief is cut short when a *cloned* Borad appears, capturing her and demanding Mykros seize the Bandril ship. The Doctor, having faked his death, reappears to confront this new Borad. He exposes Borad's cloning secret and challenges his vanity, ultimately using a mirror to force Borad to confront his own repulsive reflection. As Borad recoils, the Doctor elbows him into the Timelash, sending him back to 12th century Earth. The Timelash then explodes, destroying the device. In the aftermath, the Doctor reveals Herbert's true identity as H.G. Wells, who decides to remain on Karfel, while the Doctor and Peri prepare for their next adventure.
