The brittle, waist-high thornbushes choke Solos' scrublands in jagged spikes of dead vegetation, forming a jagged barrier that offers fleeting refuge to fugitives. Their waxy green-grey stalks snap underfoot with audible cracks or rifle-shot-like snaps when dry, visible even from a distance as they glisten with recent moisture from the arid land's rare dampness. The stems bristle with sharpened points, their density providing temporary concealment for swift movement (e.g., Varan's escape from Solonian Enforcement Guards) but failing to fully obscure pursued figures. When crushed by armored boots, they emit a dry rustle that betrays the hunter’s path almost as clearly as a shouted warning. Though sharp enough to draw blood and gouge sleeves, their cruel geometry offers the hunted passage while hampering pursuit, forcing armored pursuers to abandon their chase within meters.
