Deactivation Disc

Small, metallic discs roughly the size of credit chips, gleaming with a blood-red hue and smooth, unnatural surfaces. Their color stands out against bloodstains and grime at crime scenes, and they bear a subtle spiral sigil that emits faint blue glows under artificial light. Barely audible electronic pulses emanate from them, setting teeth on edge as they power down entire robotic systems at will. When pressed against human flesh, they leave no visible mark yet become implicated in mechanical assassinations.

Purpose

To deactivate robotic systems and potentially terminate living targets by transmitting targeted shutdown signals.

Significance

Five discs are discovered in different contexts: adhered to Cass’s hand as damning evidence of robotic murder, used by Dask to deactivate a damaged robot in security storage, given by SV7 to V6/V4 as tools to carry out extermination orders, and wielded by V6 against Toos in her cabin. Their presence reveals systemic robotic assassination programs and escalates the crew’s existential crisis.
