Positioned directly in front of the Dalek, it captures the moment the eyestick locks onto Resno, the lens of the camera reflecting the lens of the Dalek in a chilling symmetry. When the gun-stick fires, the camera isn’t just destroyed; it’s silenced, its lens shattered, its footage lost. The tripod collapses under the force of the blast, its metal legs splayed like a fallen soldier. Janley’s hasty wrapping of Resno in the dust sheet obscures the camera’s wreckage, but the damage is done: the colony’s ability to document the truth has been erased, just as Resno’s warnings were ignored. The camera’s destruction is a metaphor for the colony’s willful blindness.

Janley conceals Resno’s incapacitation

Resno’s camera, mounted on a tripod, serves as both a recording device and a symbol of the colony’s scientific ambition—and its hubris. Initially, it captures the Dalek’s reactivation, but when the Dalek’s gun-stick fires, the camera is destroyed in the blast, crashing down onto Resno’s unconscious body. The camera’s destruction is a literal and symbolic casualty of the experiment’s dangers, mirroring Resno’s own fate. Its wreckage becomes part of the evidence Janley seeks to conceal, further entrenching the colony’s culture of secrecy and denial.

Before: Positioned on a tripod in front of the Dalek, fully operational and recording the experiment. Resno adjusts it as needed, though his reluctance is evident.

After: Destroyed by the Dalek’s blast, lying in ruins atop Resno’s body. Janley later wraps both Resno and the camera’s debris in a dust sheet to hide the evidence.
