Carried slung over the shoulders of Irongron’s men, the long rifles hang heavy in the narrow space. As the candelabra swings into their firing lanes, shots ring out but strike plaster and beams, their slow reloads betrayed by the sudden mechanical distraction. Their unwieldy length cramps movement in the stairwells and doorways, slowing their response to Sarah’s gambit.

Before: Loaded and slung across the warriors’ shoulders, part of the hall’s defensive posture. Their brass receivers and walnut stocks catch flickering torchlight as the men prepare to fire.
