The pithead buildings transform from industrial structures to fireballs of collapsing brick and steel as the demolition charges erupt beneath them. Their destruction chokes the mine entrance with dust and flame, sealing the contaminated depths and blocking Stevens' bioweapons experiment.

Before: Industrial colliery buildings with functional headframes and winding gear stood intact over the mine entrance, housing equipment and access points above ground.

After: Entire structures reduced to smoldering rubble and twisted metal, engulfed by a choking plume of dust and flame that blocks further egress from the mine.
