The narrow metal slat blind initially limits the Doctor’s view but permits him just enough sight to locate Sarah through its angled slats. Sarah later ignores it when urgency overrides caution, using it only as a secondary barrier that barely obscures the Zygon’s face as the alien peers through the door.
