The Nestene brain tentacles are the Nestene collective’s primary weapon in this event. Released by Channing, they coil around the Doctor’s neck and leg, strangling him and threatening to end the confrontation before it begins. Their writhing, aggressive movement underscores the Nestene’s ruthless nature and the desperation of the Doctor’s struggle. When the ECT-like device destroys the brain, the tentacles convulse violently before going limp, symbolizing the Nestene’s defeat.
