Yeti Control Unit

A fist-sized, luminous silver globe that serves as the control mechanism for the Yeti. Originally discovered by Jamie McCrimmon in cave rubble after the companions buried a Yeti, it later rolls free from the monastery gate following a Yeti's collapse. The unit moves independently, evading monks and drawing attention from the Doctor and companions. It is confirmed to regulate Yeti movements and trigger their deaths, playing a pivotal role in the unfolding threats at the monastery. Thomni also implants a similar sphere into a captured Yeti's chest cavity, transforming the creature into a weapon. The device locks into place inside the creature, its implantation unnoticed by Victoria as she enters the meeting room.

Travers’ Departure Raises Suspicion

The silver Yeti control sphere is the narrative linchpin of this event, serving as both a physical clue and a symbol of the group’s investigative leverage. Its disappearance from the courtyard—despite Ralpachan’s insistence that no one touched it—forces the companions to confront the possibility of human betrayal. The sphere’s role as the Yeti’s 'dislodged control unit' (as the Doctor later deduces) makes it critical to understanding the mechanical creatures’ intelligence. Its vanishing pivots the investigation from external threats (the Yeti) to internal deception (Travers’ potential collusion), raising the stakes and fracturing trust within the monastery. The sphere’s absence also highlights the group’s vulnerability, as they lose their only tangible link to the Yeti’s robotic intelligence.

Before: The sphere was last seen in the courtyard by the Buddha statue, where the Doctor had placed it. It was intact, shiny, and fist-sized, emitting a faint metallic sheen. Its presence was confirmed by the Doctor, Jamie, and Victoria, and it was treated as a critical piece of evidence in their investigation.
After: The sphere is confirmed missing, with no trace of its whereabouts. Ralpachan denies any knowledge of its disappearance, and Travers—now suspected of taking it—has left the monastery under Khrisong’s permission. The sphere’s absence becomes a catalyst for the group’s shift in focus, from the Yeti’s mechanical threat to the human conspiracy unfolding within the monastery’s walls.
