The Ice Warriors’ thermal lances crackle with focused energy, their angular black-metal casings glowing as they discharge concentrated heat. The lance beams scour the refinery door’s outer plating, liquefying the reinforced surface into a dripping slag that sloughs away with a shriek.

Before: Cold, inert devices with full thermal charge, resting in the soldiers’ grasp at their sides.
