The autopilot, an integrated system within the TARDIS control panel, is the primary antagonist of this event—a stubborn, unyielding force that refuses to be overridden through conventional means. The Doctor’s frustration with it ('Oh dear, this is rather complicated') drives him to extreme measures, crawling into the nose cone to manually bypass it.
