The pressure shell is a cylindrical containment barrier surrounding the ship’s power core, its dark metallic plates bolted together with visible seams. The Doctor and Romana press their hands against its bulkhead during their argument, the metal cool to the touch despite the rising heat of the failing reactor. The shell bears faint blue energy ripples where Mandrel intrusions attempt to breach containment.
