A conical device of alien manufacture, its surface smooth and dark as polished obsidian, capable of violently plucking living targets from one point in space to deposit them in another. When activated, its apex emits a soundless pulse of distortion, warping the air around the victims before they vanish in a ripple of displaced reality. The Fifth Doctor’s form flickers in and out of existence during transit, suggesting the cone disrupts temporal continuity as much as spatial placement. Its mere presence near the TARDIS induces catastrophic systems failure.
