A slender metallic pen-like device, withdrawn after the screwdriver, is used quietly to disrupt audio surveillance systems. Its unassuming form belies its function as a technical disruptor, employed subtly as the Doctor continues to frustrate the regime’s monitoring capabilities.

The King’s Champion disguise manifests as a ceremonial mantle used by the Doctor to assert temporal authority and demand access to the King’s chamber. Its power lies not in physical form but in the role’s perceived legitimacy, which the Doctor wields as a weapon to shift from stealth to confrontation, testing the resilience of Hugh’s allegiance and the Master’s illusions.

The medieval robes are violently discarded by the Doctor as he asserts his true identity, the last vestiges of disguise falling away with calculated disdain. Initially worn to blend into the historical setting, the robes become redundant once the Doctor commits to intervention. They lie discarded and forgotten on the chamber floor, heavy with the scent of woodsmoke and age.
