Hall of the Dead Candles

Rows of thick, tapered candles crowd the tombs and alcoves of the Hall of the Dead, their flames flickering high and casting long, shivering shadows across the stone walls. The pillars of wax drip slowly onto the flagstones below, the molten drops accumulating as small pools that catch and reflect the fitful light. Binro and Unstoffe move between the candlelit monuments, each flame’s breath wavering in the damp catacomb air as if sensing the heretics’ presence.
