A car’s steering wheel wrenched violently from its column, its chrome rim dented where bolts were torn free. The plastic grip is still warm from the vehicle, now a makeshift club clutched in Vanessa’s white-knuckled grip. Its severed wires dangle uselessly, evidence of the brutal extraction. The wheel’s circular form—normally a tool for direction—becomes a talisman against the unseen, its utilitarian purpose twisted into a desperate weapon against cosmic dread.
