The weapon platform is a jury-rigged metal tripod hastily assembled from the Doctor's improvised materials and the lighthouse gallery's exhibit framework. When the Titan Base crew's standard-issue hand weapons fail to stop the infected spacemen, this repurposed platform discharges a concentrated arc of carbon-based energy, severing the contagious strands clinging to Leela and Lowe. Its destabilizing pulse forces the Nucleus to withdraw from compromised hosts, exposing the grotesque silver growths before their collapse.
