Silver Birch Tree

A slender silver birch presses against the Doctor’s back as the Dalek hybrid throttles him during their struggle on Necros. Its rough white bark digs into the Doctor’s coat, and its arching lower boughs dampen Peri’s screams by crushing her momentarily against its trunk. The tree’s delicate branches resist the Doctor’s weight as he tries to stand, their papery leaves scraping against brick debris scattered around the dell. Only after the creature collapses do the branches loosen, releasing Peri as she kneels beside the dying hybrid. (Aliases: Weathered Birch Boughs)

The supple arches of the birch boughs provide unstable but natural support to the Doctor as he balances above the mine. Their pliable twigs catch his slipping pole, forcing him to adjust his grip and regain stability.

Before: Undisturbed natural growth, arching over the mine’s location.
After: Slightly bent and creased where the Doctor gripped and tested their strength, now bearing temporary human stress marks.

Doctor and Peri fight Dalek hybrid attacker

The silver birch tree serves as an unwitting fulcrum in the struggle—the Doctor is forced back against its trunk by the hybrid’s throttling grip, his body pressing into the rough white bark while Peri’s screams are partially muffled by the dense branches that loom over her.

Before: Standing tall and uninvolved in the Necros underbrush, its delicate branches reaching downward.
