Manor House Candles
Four tallow candles roughly a hand's length, their white wax pooled unevenly at the holders. Hutchinson’s men seize them from sconces lining the manor corridors. These candles are wielded as handheld torches to illuminate the chase through the manor’s shadowed halls, their flickering flames stretching and wavering as they move. The vivid light carves sharp shadows across the oak paneling and flocked wallpaper, casting erratic illumination over ancestral portraits and Jane’s fleeing silhouette. The candles turn the reenactment’s staged tableau into a desperate hunt, where their struggle becomes history’s violent performance.
