The Time Scoop is implied through the Doctor’s dialogue as the operative force that forcibly relocated both the Third Doctor and Sarah Jane along with Cybermen into the Death Zone. Its temporal disruption has directly created the dangerous convergence of enemies and allies in this hostile terrain.

Though not physically present, the Time Scoop’s misuse is centrally implicated in the event. The Doctor invokes its legend to explain the sudden and precise arrival of Cybermen in the Death Zone, signaling an act of temporal abduction requiring high-level control. The Time Scoop arrives to extract the assembled Doctors and their companions from Rassilon’s Tomb, using temporal fission to return each to their proper time streams after Rassilon’s judgment frees Borusa’s moral consequence to others.

The Time Space machine is activated under Sontaran compulsion, forced by Stike to be primed by the Doctor’s temporal knowledge.
