Throne Room Torches

A pair of thick, unadorned resin torches carried by Guardmaster during the procession into the Pit. The torches have smooth black handles woven from rough fiber cord, their flames flickering weakly in the Throne Room's dim light as they illuminate the guard's slow march. The torches cast just enough light to reveal K9's metallic form being carried behind Romana, their glow reflecting off the polished stone floor as Adrasta's ruthless plan unfolds.

Adrasta seizes on the TARDIS for power

Torches are requested by Karela to illuminate the descent into the Pit. Their flickering light will cast shifting shadows as Romana and K9 are marched downward, reinforcing atmospheric dread and visualizing the journey into darkness beneath the platform.

Before: Held by the Guardmaster during the earlier procession, dimly illuminating the Throne Room’s floor.

After: Carried into the Pit’s corridor, their flame reflecting on stone walls as the group advances.

Adrasta sends Romana into the Pit

The Throne Room torches are carried by Guardmaster as he escorts Romana toward the Pit, their flickering light casting just enough illumination to reveal K9’s metallic form and Romana’s tethered march. They serve practically to guide the way but narratively they carve out zones of visibility and blindness—highlighting what Adrasta wants seen and concealing the danger below.

Before: At rest in the Throne Room, carried by Guardmaster.

After: Carried through the doorway into areas of greater darkness and into the narrative spotlight of coercion.

The Throne Room torches illuminate the procession and reflect off polished stone as Romana and K9 are marched toward the barred Pit doors.
