A makeshift field receiver crammed into a wicker hamper, its exposed wiring held together by hasty splices and dirty electrical tape. The device shudders with static, its receiver barely able to punch through the hum of domestic radio chatter to detect Delta's hidden signal. Hawk and Weismuller hunched over it in the back of a speeding motorcade, their fingers jamming connections back into place with every lurch of the vehicle. The receiver screeches louder when jostled, its fragile components threatening to collapse under the weight of Delta's signal and their own desperation.
