Chalk
A white rectangular piece of soft limestone used for marking, found on the Doctor’s desk as he traces a square on the back of the full-length mirror. The chalk leaves angular, precise lines that contrast with the mirror’s warped silvering, its pale residue visible against the dark wood frame as the Doctor uses it to map Castrovalva’s impossible geometry. The act of drawing forces him to confront the town’s recursive structure through tactile verification, turning an ordinary writing tool into an instrument of interrogation.
