Shredder Lid

The compact steel lid of the Hyperion Three’s waste disposal shredder rests open just wide enough to reveal its mechanical maw beneath. Its hinged frame shows faint scuff marks from repeated use, its flat surface offering little purchase as the Doctor lifts it with sudden urgency to peer inside. The Doctor’s fingers grip its edges to brace against the shredder’s vibration, his quick release halting the mechanism’s deadly cycle milliseconds before Mel would have been pulverized. Its metallic clatter against the machine’s frame rings out as he slams it back into place, the lid’s temporary obeisance to his command ending the threat until the Vervoids resume control.
