Helicopter plummets as sorcery strikes

Thick, acrid smoke rapidly fills the cockpit after the sorcerous strike, obscuring instruments and controls and making each breath labored. Its metallic tang mixes with ozone as Lavell’s voice jumps over the intercom reporting the malfunction, forcing an emergency descent and denying the crew visual contact with the outside world.

Before: Clear air in the cockpit, normal operational visibility
After: Thick, choking smoke obscuring all but the Brigade’s silhouette and Lavell’s straining grip on the controls
