The Sergeant reports their readiness before the command 'Fire' is given, transforming the conventional munitions into the mechanism of the military's catastrophic failure against the Dalek.

Dalek survives military assault intact

Rifle-grenades serve as the military’s primary countermeasure against the concealed Dalek. Loaded with explosive warheads, these projectiles are fired in a triple volley from close range into the lean-to shed. Their detonation obliterates the structure, scattering metal panels and sending fires rippling across the junkyard floor.

Before: Three intact rifle-grenades held by designated soldiers, loaded into service rifles and awaiting Gilmore’s fire command. Their design is crude and dated but consistent with 1963 military stockpiles.

After: Three rifle-grenades detonated in the shed, now reduced to smoldering fragments and chard metal, their explosive payloads fully expended. The surrounding environment is charred and littered with debris from the collapse.
