The Cailleach chalice

A shallow silver vessel with a broad bowl and slender stem, passed from hand to hand through the circle of Druids before the stone altar. Its surface reflects the crimson light pulsing from the central altar stone, consuming the ruby liquid poured into it. The metal remains cool despite the ritual’s escalating heat, absorbing the offering without stain or tarnish as Martha invokes the goddess.
