TARDIS enacts deadly spiral inside Zero Room

The exterior railing along the Zero Room’s threshold performs an inadvertent but critical protective function as the door swings inward under catastrophic forces. Designed to prevent falls into the chamber’s hazardous drop, its groaning metal briefly resists the door’s momentum, deflecting the panel past the unconscious Doctor’s head. This lastsecond intervention saves his life as the door impacts the railing instead.
