The oxygenating vent provides the Doctor with a vital supply of air after surfacing from the cooling pool’s radioactive water. He forcibly disconnects the hose, using it to fill his lungs and sustain himself long enough to reach and force the critical hatchway open. The vent’s emergency function becomes a tool of desperation and sabotage, temporarily fueling the Doctor’s high-risk plan.

Doctor exploits oxygen to breach the hatch

The Doctor wrenches the thick black oxygen feed line free from the reactor oxygen vent, transforming a life-support fixture into a weapon. The vent’s sudden release of pressurized gas becomes a battering ram, hurling high-pressure oxygen against the hatchway seals. The rupture of the feed coupling creates a hissing plume that visually distorts the chamber’s atmosphere.

Before: Securely connected to the reactor chamber’s oxygen supply, quietly maintaining life support with no sign of stress or damage.

After: Severed from its housing, leaking pressurized gas and no longer functional as intended; repurposed as a tool of sabotage.
