The heavy metal cover serves as both a physical barrier and a narrative trigger—its unfastening by the guard creates the aperture through which Unstoffe slips into the Relic Room below, transforming what should be a secure vault access into a moment of infiltration facilitated by misplaced trust.

Unstoffe intoxicates Shrieve to complete heist

The hinged metal panel is lifted aside by both men so Shrieve can peer down into the Shrivenzale’s pen. Its narrow opening also becomes the path through which the guard’s collapsing body is hidden from view below.

Before: Cover sits flush in the rooftop hatch, rust along its seams and frozen condensation indicating infrequent but rough use.
After: Cover remains open, its iron rings exposed as Unstoffe leans in to fish Shrieve’s unconscious body clear before resealing it.
