USS Enterprise Dilithium Spectrum Readouts
A bank of narrow-band engineering spectral diagnostics for the USS Enterprise dilithium crystals, rendered as scrolling waveforms, false-color spectral bands and layered telemetry (microsecond tick marks, colored traces and numeric variables). The displays surface sharp resonant peaks, faint frequency shifts and flashing resonant-field warnings; crew (Geordi, Data, Riker, Wesley and others) scan these traces on Main Engineering consoles and handheld probes to detect resonances, interference or instability that could affect warp core performance. Functionally both a technical instrument and a narrative catalyst, the readouts provide diagnostic evidence that drives engineering decisions and interpersonal dynamics in the scene.

Purpose
To present real-time diagnostic telemetry from engine probes and power conduits—visualizing energy flows, dilithium behavior, anomalies, and alarms so engineering personnel can identify and respond to system irregularities.
Significance
Acts as the narrative pretext that Picard leverages to order a stop at Starbase Montgomery and to extract Riker for a private, career-shaping conversation; transforms routine technical minutiae into a deliberate personnel maneuver and turning point.
