The Enterprise Planetary Survey Team functions as an ad-hoc Starfleet investigative and field unit that conducts on-planet scientific surveys, geophysical reconnaissance, and hazard diagnosis under shipboard command. Comprised of junior officers and technical specialists, the team reported discoveries back to bridge leadership and worked alongside medical and security personnel. In the current material the team accidentally uncovers an unknown life‑form on a distant uncharted planet; that specimen subsequently becomes the provenance of a hazardous biological incident aboard the Enterprise.
