A dense, waterlogged stretch of jungle where visibility drops to only a few meters between towering, moss-hung trees. The ground squelches underfoot, unstable with hidden pits of black, oily mud that sting with unseen toxins. Roots snake across the path like living ropes, some oozing gelatinous residue in warning while others crunch like brittle bone under Baldwin’s boots. The air hangs thick with the stench of decay and wet rot, clinging to throat and lungs, making every breath a labor. Distant, unseen creatures vocalize in sporadic, chittering bursts that echo through the claustrophobic undergrowth, each sound magnifying the growing dread that something else might be listening too. The jungle breathes around Baldwin—not alive as life should be, but as a sentient force that has already chosen who wanders and who does not.
