Concorde Overlook Outcrop

A narrow granite ledge juts from the wilderness ridge, barely wide enough for two to stand shoulder to shoulder. The stone’s rough surface holds residual warmth from the vanished sun, its fine grit scratching leather soles with every shift of weight. Below, the valley stretches out in a checkerboard of autumn trees whose orange foliage glows against the approaching dusk, a deceptive calm masking the Doctor’s dread. Cold wind funnels between the rock and the ridge, carrying the faintest traces of aviation fuel from the two Concordes parked sixty metres below, their sharp delta wings cutting angular silhouettes against the darkening sky. Even here, the air hums with the distant thrum of engines, a mechanical heartbeat barely audible over the wind’s whisper across weathered stone.
