Science Unit Corridor

Flickering maintenance lights cast long shadows over the metal grates underfoot, their glow barely piercing the gloom that pools near the bulkhead door. The walls here bear scuffs from hurried passage, their paint worn to dull gray near the handle where desperate fingers have gripped and slipped. Sounds from within—the rhythmic pulse of failing equipment, distant chittering that might be the alien creatures, the constant groan of the ship’s aging frame—seep through the closed door, underscoring their isolation. Adric’s back presses against the cold metal wall while Varsh paces the confined space, their debate muffled by the bulkhead’s mass but taut with the unspoken fear of what waits on the other side.
