The intersection hums with the low thrum of distant engines, their profiles blipping across unseen screens as they enter the zone. For Azmael’s freighter, the space functions as both landing site and declaration of defiance: the freighter’s sudden appearance in Jaconda’s controlled corridor forces the unseen Control operator into a choice—deny, delay, or silently acquiesce. The air carries the faint metallic tang of ozone and old sweat, stale markers of ships that have passed through before, their motives never clarified, their destinations untracked.
