A concealed underground chamber repurposed from a ruined municipal building, its peeling murals of Helen A’s propaganda half-scraped away to reveal older, forbidden slogans beneath. The space hangs beneath a steel-reinforced trapdoor accessed through a collapsed air vent, its air thick with the scent of burnt wiring and damp plaster. Flickering neon strips wired to emergency batteries cast hellish crimson light over a central table strewn with dented ration cans and hand-drawn resistance maps. Makeshift bunk spaces line the walls, their soiled blankets smelling of oil and sweat, while a jury-rigged comms array crackles intermittently with encrypted transmissions. The chamber’s low ceiling amplifies the murmur of plotting voices, their words punctuated by distant patrol sirens above and the occasional metallic groan of the building settling.
