A dense Swampie settlement deep within the Delta Magna marshlands, approached only by fragile canoe through treacherous waters. Its perimeter is marked by the refinery’s distant signal flare, the only landmark piercing the murky green expanse. The air hums with the rhythmic chant of Kroll! Kroll! Kroll! rising from tribal fires ringing the encampment, a primal rhythm binding warriors to their vengeance and binding the community to this waterlogged refuge. The ground sways underfoot not just from the marsh’s unstable ground but from the pounding of bare feet on war drums, every strike synchronized with the elders’ commands. Here, survival depends less on firm earth than on loyalty to the land—and the blood feud it sustains.
