The alcove is a recessed space within the Tranquiller Room, its curved walls lined with sterile white panels that reflect the harsh glow of emergency lighting. The floor slopes slightly downward toward the rear, where a compact console monitors the Doctor’s biometrics—the only warmth in the cold chamber, its screens casting rippling reflections across the polished surface. Thin cables snake from the console to electrodes adhering to the Doctor’s temples, pulsing faintly with each reading. Rogin scrambles over the top of the alcove’s low partition, his boots scraping against the metal ridge as he drops into the confined space with practiced urgency. The air smells of antiseptic and overheated circuits, the hum of the console the only sound cutting through the station’s mechanical chorus. It feels like a fleeting sanctuary, too small for comfort but essential for the Doctor’s fragile hold on consciousness.
