Middenweg

Middenweg is a narrow, winding path in the outskirts of London, far enough from settlement to feel desolate yet close enough to civilization to offer fleeting refuge. The route coils between skeletal trees, their ancient branches stripped to brittle fingers clawing at the lavender-tinged twilight. Crushed gravel and brittle autumn leaves crunch underfoot, mixing the scent of earth and decay with the faint metallic tang of approaching storm. The air presses heavy with the weight of distant disruptions—a pressure Robin Stuart senses as both menace and shelter, the path leading toward an isolated estate but also toward whatever waits beyond the house’s crumbling façade. The illusion of safety clings to the journey, the mansion’s scattered lights a beacon warped by the antimatter creature’s encroaching reality.
