Exterior Launch Pad

A narrow metal platform clinging to the side of a functional launch pad, exposed to the open sky where the stench of singed circuitry and frozen earth lingers. Dim security floodlights cast uneven amber pools across riveted steel grating that vibrates with the distant hum of dormant machinery and the occasional groan of stressed metal. The air carries a biting cold that clings to exposed skin while tendrils of Frost cling to the edges of equipment crates stacked haphazardly near the door. Beyond the platform’s railing, the darkness yields nothing—a sheer drop into night punctured only by glints of distant running lights far below. Emergency strips pulse erratically in the corridor’s exit, their weak illumination barely piercing the howling wind that tunnels across the open expanse.
