Protection Hatch

The Protection Hatch is a cramped, utilitarian space designed for emergency containment rather than habitation. Its walls curve inward slightly, the metal ribs visible beneath thin padding that shows scuff marks from previous use. Emergency lighting strips cast a sickly green glow across the console’s readout panel, the only source of illumination in the otherwise dark compartment. The recessed hatch door sits slightly ajar in the curved bulkhead, its locking mechanism fused shut by whatever violent sequence brought the Doctor here. Beyond it, the corridor remains bathed in the Ark’s usual sterile glow, but here the air smells of scorched circuitry and the faint metallic tang of blood—hints of the physical struggle that accompanied Rogin’s final stand. The hatch’s interior is barely large enough to kneel within, built for single occupancy rather than rescue or recovery. Whatever crisis passed through this space, it left the Doctor disoriented and bleeding, his memory of waking moments fragmented by whatever force expelled him from the corridor.
